Hood Hinges

Postby Zed » Mon Apr 17, 2017 3:50 am

Hi, my LH hinge has got a bit of play in it so I always have to push the hood down to make it flush with the front guard whoops fender.
This has been like this since I got the Kar 25 or so years ago.
Very recently the RH (drivers side, I am in Australia) hinge has developed a bend in it. They still go up and down but I feel that the time has come to replace them both.
I have had a quick look around on ebay, VA Mustang and NPD etc.
Has anyone had any good or bad experiences getting old used hinges or the Scott Drake concours or non concourse versions?

Thanks in advance Eddie

The only down side to this particular pair of hinges is the rivets. The originals were swaged over with an "X" pattern. On this pair, the right hand one is correct but the left hand one is a later production and is only swaged from the center. I have had people complain about this before. However NOS pairs are really tough to locate no matter how they are swaged. The left hand side was available long after the right hand one was obsolete so finding any NOS right hand one is a bonus.

To the credit of the seller it is mentioned that the two hinges have slight differences in the rivets due to different production dates, etc.
