My question is if you swap 65 or 66 289 mustang motor mounts left to right would it move the engine back or forwards from its original position, im looking to move it backwards an inch or two for improved weight transfer, i may fabricate something but thought i would ask ask about this first , thanks, chuck.

Chuck, I am unclear as to which part of the mount assembly that you are trying to swap. Are these 65 Hipo or 65 standard mounts, although I do not think it will matter?

If you move the motor to the rear, the Ron Morris mounts are the best and safest way to accomplish that. But whether you lower the motor, or just move it back, your stock crossmember will not work anymore.

I manufacture crossmembers that will fit cars with a lowered or rearward located engine. But even with my crossmember, there is a limit how far back you can go. Most people are satisfied with just lowering the engine 1/2". Even doing that requires a different crossmember from stock, and some modification of the fan shroud.

Here is a link to the crossmembers I sell. There are cheaper ones, but none better. I started making them because I got fed up with aftermarket parts, especially the crossmembers, not fitting right. So far I've sold just over 200 of them.

The upper 66 mounts are the same part on both sides so there will be no change. The 65 standard mounts are different from each other.
