This VIN stamped engine was for sale by eBay member "wrenchhead80" before it suddenly was pulled by the seller because the item is no longer available.

DESCRIPTION: "Up for grabs is my 1965-1966 289 K Code. This is not only an original K Code, but it was actually a 306 hp Shelby engine. I had this verified some years ago by the president of our local Shelby club. Engine was refurbished about 8 years ago, and it has around 12,000 miles on it. I have had it in my 66 fastback for years, but have changed directions with the car, and I am building a 347, and I did not have the heart to use this as a core. The engine retains most of it original parts. I know it is missing the original distributor, carb, waterpump, fuelpump, and valve covers. Engine block has original vin stamped in it. Here are the casting numbers and dates:

Block C5AE-6015E Date 5K9

Heads Date 6A31 4V 65 have correct spring pockets casted in heads.

Vin number stamped 6RO9K78539*

Has correct hipo rods with 3/8 bolts.

Correct harmonic balancer.

Real original Shelby oil pan.

Real original Shelby intake.

If my memory serves me correctly, the engine is still standard bore with original pistons.

Crank is original and is 10/10.

Does not have the original solid lifter cam, I changed it out for a hydraulic.

The engine runs fantastic strongest 289 ever built. This engine has been in my family since 1969 when my dad bought it. He had it on a stand in the basement for years that he could run it on. I believe original miles to be under 50,000, but I have no way to prove it. I recently took off the oil pan to check it out, and all looked great. I resealed the engine and gave it fresh plugs and oil filter.I will include in the sale a distributor with Pertronics installed. I will also include a set of either polished aluminum valve covers, or a used set of reproduction Cobra valve covers.

On Jan-01-13 at 16:50:51 PST, seller added the following information:

*The VIN I wrote is wrong. It is 6R09K176539.

Did San Jose mustangs reach VIN number 6RO9K78539* in '66 or is the number a typo?

Here's an engine for sale by eBay member " vintoy" with a starting bid of $9,500.00.

DESCRIPTION: "This engine I think is a 1965 . Pictures show the important details. This motor is stuck from setting. Some rust in a couple exhaust ports. Was stored with headers open. I have an engine shop 3 miles from me. If buyer needs anything confirmed that may help. Buyers expense. If you need any more info just ask. Someone told me value would be somewhere between 5000 and 15000. I dont want to ship this. Pick up here in lower michigan.

I have owned this motor since late 70's.Heres the history..... It came to me with a T-bucket. This is around 1979. I put this motor in my 66 mustang that i owned since 1970. Drove to my work about 8 miles, in and out of the shop at night. Then drove it home. Next trip was to the little store/gas station to get fuel. I left in running while i gased up and paid. When i went in to pay the lady was upset and told me to get out of there quickly. Many little things on her shelves were movng around. I only had thrush header mufflers and it was very loud even at idle.
Took car home and parked it. I felt the motor was not very streetable so it sat. Short time later someone offered me 85 dollars for the 9 inch rear axle. Needed the money so I pulled axle and sold it. The car then sat for maybe 30 some years. Was stored inside most of the time. I just pulled this out of my mustang about a year ago. I have my original c motor to put in all rebuilt.

No shipping at this time.i included a few pics of my car. Hipo coming out of car in the pics. Car is not for sale.

I have posted a pic of block lower pass side above oil pan. No visible vin number. Not sure if paint on block is original. No vin may be an advantage to someone who needs a k motor as there is no number to remove-clean slate.

I have the valve covers. I think i have the distributer and water pump too but not sure.

O. C5AE-6015E. And 5H7. On block."
