Does anyone know this car? Description says it was restored by MCA Head Judge Alan Stewart, but there is no mention of any MCA Gold awards. Bid to $31,250 with 21 hours to go. Any history of this car I should know before putting in a bid?

I bought the car in April of 2013 from a James Cozart. If I remember correctly he purchased from Alan Stewart in 2006. I did talk to Alan at some MCA shows and he did confirm that he had restored the car. I sold it at the Leake Dallas Auction in November of 2015 at a hammer of $33K. It bounced around for a while and ended up with this guy in California. He tracked me down and I sent him the last of the documentation I had about a year ago. I never showed the car in MCA and there were no engine issues when I owned it. The only changes I made to the car was the addition of the Arvinade exhaust. The undercarriage is not strong enough to be a concours car. Carb and fuel pump were clones at the time I owned it. Lots can change in the 2 years since I owned it.

I do not know this Kar but it is NOT a concours car although it does appear to be a very nice car. This car definitely would not score any MCA Gold awards. It has one fairly expensive item that is incorrect along with a lot of smaller things. It is possible that some items have been changed since the restoration?

Thank you very much for the reply. I was looking for an MCA Gold quality car. There are a lot of things that are easily fixed to get to that MCA level. The underbody is not one of them. I will pass on this one.

An MCA Concours Gold level K Code is a Unicorn. Good luck in your search. If you are not completely familiar with MCA Gold level cars try to come to the MCA Grand National in Kansas City this month. You would be able to get a feel for the Gold standard. I'll have my 65 Silver Smoke Gray K GT Coupe there. It is a Gold/Silver level MCA Kar in Occasional Driven Trailered. OD cars are basically judged on quality, fit, finish and cleanliness (not 100% accuracy) and a far cry from Concours Gold.

Let's see...someone paid $33 Kilobucks at auction back then. Put another $13K into an engine rebuild, etc. and then sold it for only $36,250. WOW!

Not counting commissions and other costs, it's a net loss of exactly $9750.00.

Not that I'm selling, but bet I would loss more then that if I did. I know a lot of people that would consider a not loss of 10k not to bad on a classic.
Cheers

The seller on Bring a Trailer was not who purchased the Kar from me at the Leake auction. A dealer purchased the Kar. The dealer had it on Ebay a couple of times. Didn't sell. Not sure when this owner bought the Kar or from whom.

Guess that makes matters worse, and this one didn't bring the money.

In this case the seller should have put a higher reserve to protect their interest unless they were only interested in moving the Kar on to another owner.
