Interesting photo shows tach reading 3.7K RPM and speedo reading just under 70 MPH. I wonder how that picture was taken while driving that fast???

This is a weird Kar considering it was only built 2 months after mine from the same plant. I too have an automatic K and there are a lot of things that would make me question the "survivor" tag they've put on it, looks like a lot has been done to this thing over the years, and that ticket price seems high to me considering all these things I'm seeing...

Ebay states "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing" on October 22, 2017.

This is one of the very few factory heater delete cars that I have seen and that is backed up by the window sticker. Keep in mind that although this Kar does not have a radio, it is NOT a radio delete car. They just did not order a radio. The window sticker backs this up as this subject has come up under other discussions.

Gotta wonder what the "error" is.

Does anyone else have a complete numbers matching Kar with original paint and as much original documentation ? Maybe there are several survivor K codes out there ? I thought this was a rare Kar.

Jeff,
Congrats on the sale. I'm sure the new owner will pop up somewhere in the future with a nicely finished restoration.
I'm sure the number of legitimate survivor cars is small and those with documentation is even smaller. They do have a way of "appearing to be discovered" in recent years.

To answer your question about rarity, based on previous discussion regarding the car in the past year or so, it would appear to have some nice documentation. That alone is a score. (see provenance vs. pedigree here: http://hipomustang.com/hpmx/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3903

Not every original can be like these. http://hipomustang.com/hpmx/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5011
This is actually a good thing because if they were all this way, the value of yours (and others in similar condition) would be greatly undervalued. As it is, these two cars (and others if discovered) reap the opposite effect and are greatly valued. (And rightly so)

Taking your word that everything was as you say, yes it is a rare car due to it's originality and paperwork.
With no cause to doubt you, hopefully you did well with the sale and the new owner will one day have a sweet car with a nice history to share.

Perkins car is very nice, I've seen it in person. Although it has had some paint work in the past it's still the nicest unrestored K Fastback I have ever seen. Not quite sure how much original documentation he has though.

Not that it makes a difference to me but I received an email from an eBayer on Friday evening :

New message from: r31123 (4)
I’m not interested in the car, but I think I can add to the history. If you know the original owners name. Lapolla was the original owner. Only one of these was sold by Scotty Moffit ford in Carpinteria. If this is correct, please let me know. I believe this car was the NHRA “D” stock automatic national record holder in 1966. The mechanic that raced it was Marcel D’avinion. The engine was rebuilt in Santa Barbara by Pino Checcetto (a friend of Carroll Shelby) at PC Automotive. Drop me a note if u have a minute.
