Nice looking fastback, but the listing makes the following false claim: "This car is 1 of only 466 K-cars built in Dearborn in 1965." What is actually true is that it is unknown exactly how many K Mustangs were built in Dearborn in 1965, but we do know for sure that there were certainly LOTS and LOTS more built than just the 466 claimed in this auction. It is believed that 7,273 HiPo Mustangs were built in 1965 (excluding Shelby's), divided unevenly between three assembly plants. It is a safe bet that several thousand were built by Dearborn in 1965.

This auction ended October 20, 2017 at $41,100.00 with 25 bids from 10 bidders and it did not meet the sellers reserve and so therefore did NOT sell.

Does that look like "C7" part numbers on the exhaust manifolds?

Yes, they are C7 exhaust manifolds. The C7 exhaust manifold can be identified even when the engine is installed in the Kar by the relief on the left side of the upper part of the mounting flange for the thermactor emission tube setup.

With all of the efforts toward detailing, some incorrect, I am surprised that this car has the wrong axle housing and no pinion snubber although this is mentioned in the auction. It has the Rally Pak for the 5 dial instrument cluster which this Kar does not have and it appears to be a 6K version. Correct Hipo fuel pumps are so expensive therefore I understand why the Gypo fuel pump although at least a standard version would at least look right. I like the idea of putting tape over the VIN stamp before painting the engine as it makes it much easier to see the VIN stamp.

Now that it's been pointed out about the replacement C7 manifolds, what about the incorrect gaskets installed behind them?

The gaskets jumped out at me first and I wanted to throw row rocks at my screen but I got distracted when I noticed the C7 numbers.

I spoke to the owner who wants $60k+ for this numbers matching kar. He told me the vin stamps on the apron, block and transmission all match.
Currently: 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback, K-code, HiPo, GT-350 Clone, Signalflare Red, black interior
Formerly: 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, A-code, Wimbledon White, red interior

But, it seems the incorrect 9" rear, the service replacement exhaust manifolds, and the non HiPo fuel pump don't count for numbers matching.

Both expired auctions did not even come close to the $60,000 the seller hopes to get.
