I had a request for a better explanation as to why the forums were down for so long.

The old forum was based on 10-year old code. As servers get upgraded, some supported functionality changes or gets deprecated. So basically, a server upgrade resulted in major portions of the old code to die. After troubleshooting to determine the problem and also realizing any fixes would probably be temporary as the next server upgrade would probably generate more issues, I decided to convert to a different type of forum. I hoped to get the old data converted to the new structure prior to launching but that was going to take more time than could spare. I told Marv if not converted by Thanksgiving, I would relaunch from scratch. I still plan to convert the data when I have the time.

As for folks offering assistance on other sites, I was unaware of those offers. I hadn't been to VMF in probably a year before being prompted by Marv to post about the forum being back up. I'm not even a member on the concours or SAAC sites.

I did receive a few emails offering help, but I was optimistic that wouldn't be necessary. I now realize I was a bit naive in my assessment.

A apologize again for the long hiatus and any dismay my lack of keeping folks informed may have caused. I'm also grateful that folks were willing to offer support to get the forum back online.

If anyone has any specific questions, comments, or criticisms, please post here so everyone can see my response.

Great work Hank, this is just a suggestion but may to help the forum from getting too big and hard to go through all the posts looking for specific information. That there is a members only section which has known K code facts, data and pictures, i.e pic of fuel pump types with corresponding date changes in pump variations. The fuel pump is only one of many things that could be added to this section. This could then be divided up into various sub sections like engine, transmission, rear axle and body. This may help to keep the information clear and concise and would aid those restoring their Kars. The information as added to the exchange could be submitted first to help keep it factual and accurate for all members. I'm sure some members would be able to assist you in checking these submissions first.
I know a lot of this information is common knowledge for some people and lacking for others. This is just an idea and I hope you like it.
Regards Eddie
