New member 65 K code.

Postby Bartman » Sun Jun 07, 2015 10:07 pm

Hello from Nelson,BC Canada. I just purchased an all original 65 K code. 5F07K264087 K264087. Built on April 13, 64- I believe it's possible a 64 1/2. Also has the original block with matching VIN stamp. also matching Trans and 4.11 diff. Car also came with parts with a spare hi Po head and block stamped 5F07K607374. Car is running but requires restoration, las done in the 80's. Wimbledon white.
I look forward to to reading all of the posts.
Ps. I also have a 66 c code as well.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum. Your Kar was probably produced on August 18, 1964 and it is a 65 and not a 64 1/2 model. There is a Hipo convertible with a VIN one less than yours.

Wow that's cool thanks for the info. I guess being so close the cut off explain why my car is a blend with the vent "A" stamped and beveled headlight bezels as 64.5 floor carpets not up to the rockers. I am the 3rd owner the previous had it for 41 years. Enjoy this site already

Oops, I meant to say build date of August 13, 64, not April as in my first post. My Kar also has the 64.5 hood, with the sharp edges near the headlight bezel and non adjustable passenger seat. Also the hood bumpers are secured with Phillips screws (64.5). VIN codes on Trans match Kar and Diff checks out as well, 3.89 ratio. Heads and engine have early July 64 build dates on them as well. So if as widely reported, Aug. 17, 64 was the start of the true 65's, my Kar has to be close to one of the last 64.5's?

As stated in my previous post, your Kar is a 1965 model and NOT a 64 1/2 model based on the VIN. I have an August 6, 1964 San Jose Hipo coupe which is also a 1965 and not a 64 1/2 model. It also has a lot of the 64 1/2 features as yours does but as in all 1965 cars, it has an alternator rather than a generator.

Correction, it's a 6 bolt bell housing, with "HP" written and orange painted dabbed as well. 4 H I I casting code on the block, above C5AE-6015E"
