We Are All New Here Now

Postby C6ZZKGT » Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:36 pm

I have been on the old version of the forum for probably 10 years or more. When the archives come up I will know for sure. I have been impressed with all of the knowledgeable people who frequent this site and I am very happy to see it back up again. Thank you Cobraboy for starting out with a picture post in the SKrap Book. We now know that pictures are working again. I look forward to all of the posts to come so that we can share knowledge on these 289 Special Kars. I am not trying to leave anyone out here but I am glad to see that Charles Turner is back here again as well as on the Concourse forum. Welcome back Gene Kane as well who was a moderator on the old version. I am sure that this forum will regain its strength back in time. We are now at 42 members which is not bad for the first day back.

It would be interesting to know how many truly new members the site attracts since its reinstatement as compared to returning members.

My neighbour DIRECTLY behind me has a 1966 K code, GT Fastback. I never knew that it existed until one day when he came and visited me as I worked on mine. We walked about 150 paces into his garage and there it was, driven twice in the last 10 years, numbers matching, 4 speed, Pony Interior, Ivy Green on Parchment, 1 repaint, motor rebuilt once, 40 over. At that time I encouraged him to join the old HPMX but because he had tried to register his car on here and never heard back, he gave up. I will happily tell him about the new site and try to lure him back. If I recall its a Dearbor Kar with an October build date. Imagine, there are about 40 K Kodes from Kanada in the registry and number 41 lives behind me!

It is amazing sometimes who we will meet working on our Kars. I have met quite a number of people this way as they were just driving down my street.

A late friend of mine I met over 30 years ago was driving down my street in his K code. The Kar backfired through the carburetor in front of my house as he was driving by and caught fire. I quickly extinguished the fire for him and so started our relationship that lasted until his passing a couple of years ago. His son now has the Kar and is keeping it in his fathers memory.

It's good, really good to be back on the forum again. As I recall I first signed on in 2001.

Only bad thing is that now I've got to learn how to navigate all over again.

Everyone's gotta learn how this new board "works", but soon it will feel like an old pair of shoes that fit just right.

I have been out of touch for a long while. I originally purchased my 65 hipo coupe from Gene Hamon Ford in Texas City, Texas in August of 64. I have many fond memories with my girl friend in that little coupe. I had to sell it in the summer of 65 when I went into the Army. Could not afford the $140 a month payment on a private's pay of $78 a month. My cousin was parts manager at the dealership and Mr. Hamon generously agreed to take the car and sell it for me at no hit to my then modest credit. Several years passed and I finally found the exact car. Color codes, drive train, etc. She now is shown as Paulette II. Named after the girl friend of the time. I will post a pic later.

Like everyone else has stated, it is great to see the site back in business. Missed the great information and interaction between us K owners. This is a great resource and thanks for the hard work in bringing it back on for everyones benefit and enjoyment.
