The Autolite Unifill was an interesting battery when it was introduced. It was supposed to make filling of the battery easier and also easier to maintain the proper liquid level of it. It did not really work out well. This Unifill design was the premium replacement battery of the day and it was never factory installed. The issue with the 24C battery is that the polarity posts are opposite to a Ford product and is designed for GM and Chrysler vehicles. The Ford type is a 24F. This group 24C battery would fit an early Shelby with a trunk mounted battery but would not have been originally installed as this Unifill design was produced later than the cars.

These Unifill batteries did not sell well back in the day so very few exist. Even the 24F Unifill is incorrect for a Hipo 289 as most had a 22F series battery. The smallest Unifill was the larger 24 series. Therefore the Unifill battery is just inappropriate for our Kars.

Certainly not thinking of using one myself, nor suggesting that anyone else try to use one in a vintage Mustang. But, it's an interesting item from the Blue Oval that is not widely known about.

I will give credit to Jim Cowles in that he is definitely NOT trying to mislead anyone into believing that this battery is correct for a Ford vehicle. I am only trying to point out that fact as it is not mentioned in the auction.

The correct original label that the seller is offering with the battery helps a lot if you have a 70 car that is a thoroughbred.

Is it me or is that cap broken where it attaches? Are the two notches on the outer edge supposed to be there?

I think that is rather strange looking, and considering the price, it should be better than perfect!

Even at "half price" it's damn expensive...but as far as detail and accuracy, it looks better than any car model I've seen so far. I'm wondering how it looks up close and in person. It also comes in yellow and red, but the blue looks the best as far as I'm concerned.
