I was at a car show this past Sat. with my K and a guy came up to me asking what I thought about the 36 '65 Shelby GT-350Rs that are planned to be built starting this fall. At the time I knew nothing about them but I did an internet search and found out it is in fact true. 36 Licensed Shelby GT-350Rs will be build by 3 former Shelby employees. I'm sure this has been already discussed in great lengths on other Mustang boards but couldn't find any discussions about it here.

From what I've read so far these 36 cars will be built from "donor" cars. I got to thinking, what type of donors will be used, could some of them be original Ks or will they all be clapped out 6 cylinder cars. Further internet searches turned up no details on what donor's will be used.

Anyone heard anymore details about this?

I had not heard of this program prior to your posting. In regards to what cars would be used for the program, I am unclear, however the former Shelby employees did use K codes for their IRS project a little while back. Therefore it is certainly possible that could happen again.

This one is just a special construction vehicle in the California DMV's eyes. At least the other ones are being done by the original Shelby guys. I would be curious if the others will have Shelby VIN's like the continuation convertibles done in the 80's.
